FAQs about Hemp Dog Treats

Are hemp treats good for dogs?

Absolutely, full spectrum hemp extract treats can be incredibly beneficial for dogs. Our treats are specially formulated to provide various health advantages for our furry companions. Full spectrum hemp extract interacts with your dog’s endocannabinoid system, which plays a significant role in regulating various bodily functions.

Full spectrum hemp extract has shown promising results in managing a range of issues in dogs, including anxiety, pain, arthritis, allergies, and more. Hemp dog treats for anxiety offer a natural way to alleviate discomfort and promote a sense of calmness without the unwanted side effects often associated with traditional medications. Hemp dog treats for joint pain can help alleviate inflammation and pain, improving mobility.

If you’re seeking a holistic approach to support your dog’s well-being, hemp treats can be an excellent option. They provide the potential benefits of full spectrum hemp extract in a convenient and nutritious treat, making it easier to incorporate into your dog’s daily routine.

What are full spectrum hemp extract dog treats?

Hemp dog treats are dog treats infused with full spectrum hemp extract, adding oil to a dog treat makes it easy to give your dog the health benefits of hemp extract without having to place oil along their gum line. Hemp treats are a great way to effortlessly get the remarkable benefits of full spectrum hemp extract into your pet’s body. Still, they absolutely must be made properly in order to see those benefits. Using full spectrum hemp extract is an absolute must, and that extract must not have heat applied to it in the manufacturing process in order to retain its potency.

How are hemp dog treats made?

Hemp dog treats usually start like any other dog treat in terms of their recipe and then full spectrum hemp extract is added. However, the way in which extract is added to the treat varies. Some companies mix the extract into the recipe mixture, some spray it on the outside of the treat at the end of the process, and some soak the treat in the oil. If heat is applied to the full spectrum hemp extract, like during baking, cooking, or extrusion, then the efficacy and potency of the dog treat will be negatively affected or negated altogether. Unfortunately, many dog treats, especially hemp dog chews, are made in this manner. This is often why people do not see noticeable results when using full spectrum hemp extract treats, especially if their dog has a more serious issue.

Blanche’s Edibles are made with all organic ingredients and air-baked at low temperatures, packed with wholesome goodness and free from any additives or preservatives. These low-calorie, hypoallergenic, grain and gluten-free, vegan hemp extract treats for dogs are then infused with our proprietary full spectrum hemp extract in the heart of Colorado.

Unlike other hemp extract treats, each of our treats is individually sprayed with the exact milligrams of full spectrum hemp extract, to ensure your pet gets a consistent and reliable dosage in every tasty bite.

Are hemp treats bad for dogs?

The biggest issue among almost all full spectrum hemp extract dog treats on the market is the sub-par ingredients used to make the treats. Hemp dog treats too often appeal to the pet owner rather than the end user, the dog. As a result, an unnecessary amount of sugar (molasses, honey, maltodextrin) is added to the treats to increase their palatability.

Unfortunately, the average hemp dog treat is not very palatable because sub-par ingredients are used to lessen the cost of the treat. Cheap fillers and glycerin are just a few of the many ingredients that are put into hemp dog treats to make them taste better, and cheaply bulk up the treat.

At Hemp Dog Health, as well as Real Dog Box and Cocotherapy, sourcing the best and purest ingredients for your pet is our priority. Our all-natural full spectrum hemp extract treats for dogs, Nina’s Edibles and Blanche’s Edibles, are made with real whole food ingredients, selected for their benefits to your pet, and infused with our full spectrum hemp extract

We believe in transparency, so you can rest assured that every ingredient in Nina’s Edibles is sourced with the utmost care. Real food ingredients meet the power of Hemp, providing your dog with a hemp dog treat that not only tantalizes their taste buds but also contributes to their overall health.

Are hemp dog treats safe for dogs?

Are hemp chews safe for dogs?

Unlike typical hemp dog treats that may contain harmful additives, our full spectrum hemp extract treats for dogs are meticulously formulated to provide only the best for your furry friend. We understand that your dog’s well-being matters, which is why we’ve meticulously selected ingredients that are pure and beneficial for their overall health, to be paired with our full spectrum hemp extract for the best hemp dog treats.

Unfortunately, many of the other hemp dog treats available on the market can be detrimental to your pet in two ways: the cheap ingredients are proinflammatory and damage gut health, and because of this, they will negate the anti-inflammatory effects of the hemp treat.

In addition, since many of these hemp dog treats also add fish oil to the treats, either for flavor or perceived health benefits, the treats for pets are often rancid and even more pro-inflammatory (rancid fish oil is full of free radicals, which cause cell damage and cancer).

The worst and most ambiguous ingredient added to most hemp dog treats (and pet treats in general) is flavorings. Usually, these flavors are bacon, poultry, beef, peanut butter, or smoked flavor. There is virtually no standard or regulation regarding flavoring, and companies have no obligation to tell you how these flavors are made or their original sourcing.

Even if a flavor has the word “natural” before it, the term “natural” has no legal definition, and these flavorings are still lab-made. They are not to be trusted, period.

All these harmful ingredients are often combined when a treat is in a hemp dog chew form.

Companies creating hemp chews for dogs usually use the same recipe as others and do not try to create a healthier full spectrum hemp extract dog chew because “everyone does it that way.” So it’s likely you’ll find very similar ingredient labels when looking for a hemp dog treat.

When looking for the best hemp treat for dogs and pets, make sure it’s infused with full spectrum hemp extract, look for fewer ingredients, and stay away from flavorings and sugar/sweeteners being in the ingredients.

Should I give my dog hemp treats?

…or a full spectrum hemp extract tincture or hemp salve?

An important question to consider when choosing full spectrum hemp extract for pets is what you’re using it for. Hemp dog treats have to pass through a dog’s gastrointestinal system, which is an acidic and harsh environment. This results in less hemp being absorbed compared to a full spectrum hemp extract tincture being given along the gumline (transmucosal).

However, the GI tract is still rich in hemp receptors. This is an essential consideration for a few reasons. If your dog is dealing with more moderate to severe concerns, a tincture may be warranted to see more significant results.

For example, when dealing with canine cancer or epilepsy, it’s unlikely a full spectrum hemp extract dog treat on its own will have the effectiveness of a hemp extract tincture to tackle these conditions appropriately.

However, if your dog is dealing with a milder issue like allergies, has a gastrointestinal problem like IBD, or their issue is situational, such as thunderstorms or firework anxiety, then hemp treats for dogs can be beneficial. Additionally, if your pet is unwilling to allow you to administer a tincture in their mouth, then a hemp dog treat will be a great option!

If your pet’s concern is more topical, like hot spots, wound recovery, or skin allergies, a topical hemp salve will be your best choice for directly addressing the concern. However, coupling a topical salve with a hemp dog treat will give your dog relief inside AND out!

How long for hemp dog treats to work?

Since full spectrum hemp extract dog treats must be digested, they take more time to work. So you need to be mindful of this when giving hemp treats for dogs. If going on a car ride, for example, give the full spectrum hemp extract treat 45-60 minutes before the trip. This will allow the full spectrum hemp extract to be absorbed fully and yield the most significant benefit.

How many hemp treats can I give my dog?

The amount of hemp treats you can give your dog depends on two main factors: their age and their health concern. Weight is not a scientifically supported dosage factor, despite most companies recommending full spectrum hemp extract to be given according to body weight.

For the best results, give your dog the recommended amount of full spectrum hemp extract according to their health concern. The following are suggested hemp dog treat dosages by ailment, based on research and experience. Your pet may need more or less full spectrum hemp extract, depending on their unique needs.

Blanche’s Edibles has 3mg of full spectrum hemp extract in each treat, which is a great starting point for dogs with mild anxiety. We recommend 3 treats for anxiety daily, or start with a treat 30 minutes prior to any anticipated triggers. For dogs with arthritis, we recommend starting with 2 treats for joint pain daily, then adjust as needed. Also start with 2 treats for allergies and inflammation, and adjust from there.

Nina’s Edibles have a slightly higher dosage of 5mg in every treat. We recommend starting with 2 treats for anxiety daily or start with a treat 30 minutes prior to an anticipated trigger. For dogs with arthritis, we recommend starting with one treat for joint pain daily, then adjust as needed. Also start with one treat for allergies and inflammation, and adjust from there.

Our hemp edibles for dogs are also great for a daily health boost! Start with one of Nina’s Edibles for dogs daily, or start with two of Blanche’s Edibles for dogs every day, to support your dog’s best health.

Can my dog overdose on hemp dog treats?

No, you can’t overdose your dog on full spectrum hemp extract, so give what you need to see an effect. If your dog is older, you may have to give more full spectrum hemp extract to see an effect, as older animals tend to have less sensitive Endocannabinoid systems and thus absorb fewer cannabinoids.

Be mindful that hemp dog treats, unlike hemp extract tinctures, have calories and, if given excessively, may cause digestive upset depending on the dog. If you have to give large amounts of treats to see an effect, consider trying a full spectrum hemp extract tincture instead.
